The dog walk with more than just walking the dog! Aylestone Hall Gardens is the place to go for a beautiful steady on lead walk with your dog and a chance to look at the wonderfully kept flora and fauna. A dog walk along the tarmac paths there is a stunning  range of roses, scrubs and trees for you take photographs of and enjoy while your dog gets chance to sniff round a new area.  The park is situated on Aylestone Road and in 2006 it was awarded the Green Flag Award in recognition of achieving the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales, this was again awarded this in 2010.

The hall was built for the Vernon family and is now a Grade II listed building. The gardens surround the hall which was bought in 1950, where it and its grounds were involved in a large renovation project in 2003 by Leicester Corporation.

There are sporting facilities at Aylestone Hall consist of two tennis courts and a bowling green, giving you the opportunity to take in some sport while you take a stroll around this idyllic garden, winding  around the blooming roses and the other lush foliage. Better yet there is a tree trial where specific trees are located around the garden and shown on the map for you and your dog to go and admire and look at.  In 2004 a group could ‘Friends of Aylestone Hall Gardens’ was set up. This was intended for the council to work with group to maintain the hall and grounds to its best.  To ensure all are welcome to continually use these so all are able to continue to bring their dog out to enjoy such a beautiful walk, but we ask you to keep your dog under close control, pick up after your dog, use the bins provided and respect the local residents when parking and enjoying this area.

Parking is very limited at the park but on road parking can be used on surrounding roads near the park. Don’t let this put you off however as you will see some very pretty and colourful trees and plants to make walking with your dog that more interesting. This dog walk is not a big walk it’s a opportunity for the dog owner to have a steady wander around a beautiful garden, sit chill and take in the sights sounds and smells, Aylestone Hall gardens is open all year round however does close at dusk between October and March and between seven and eight from April to September.
